Gulmohar: Unveiling the Veiled Universe

  1. What inspired you to write this particular book, and how did the idea for the story come to you?

Right from childhood, I have been quite an inquisitive person from the things around me, as I grew up the situations and surroundings and the family background that I grew up made me a dreamer and look for ideas. So science came to my rescue in the school and mixing it up with some fantasy the story of the book had always been lingering in my mind, I just put it on paper then.

2. Can you share some insights into your writing process? Do you follow a specific routine or have any unique rituals that help you get into the creative flow?

Yes actually, Like I said before, I was quite a dreamer so writing comes to me quite naturally, you know those people who ask a lot of answer sheets in school exams, I use to be the same writing lengthy answers, hahha!

So yeah! The whole thing depends on the place, situation, mood etc. that can keep me going on and on…

3. The characters in your book are quite distinct and memorable. Are they based on real people, or did they evolve purely from your imagination?

Well it’s a mix of both, the fantasy part is an accentuation of the science and cast is a mix of people I had come across, who inspired me to write more about themselves, I just gave the people some words to play in my story.

4. Your book delves into [specific theme or issue]. What motivated you to explore this theme, and what messages or discussions do you hope readers will take away from your work?

Honestly its all about a boy who wants to explore the world and finds out a veiled side of the universe which is quite intriguing and follow some set scientific patterns. He plays around with time and space and makes a new world for himself. The challenge here is the more he discovers it deeper, the more he finds himself excited and troubled…as the nature also becomes playful and plays with him now…..

I hope the readers find a childhood side of themselves here and enjoy reading it.

5. The world-building in your novel is incredibly rich and immersive. How did you go about creating the setting, and did you draw inspiration from any real-world locations or historical events?

Yes that’s true, my world in the book revolves around a child’s family home and school which is precisely the best times in our life where we have a lot of fun and explore the world in our way. Cities and old tows are very close to my heart as the hustle bustle of the life is just so well brewed there. I will say festivals have been a big part of the story and the fantasy revolves around the festivities we have….

6. As a writer, how do you balance the need for originality with the expectations of the genre? Were there any challenges in putting your unique spin on familiar elements?

Well in my style I try to make the story as close to oneself as one reads it, therefore I have written it mostly in present tense that makes it a little challenging to keep the pace of the story going every time there are complex situations and dramas. I have also tried to maintain a balance of science and keep it in tune with the readers so thet they enjoy the story and live the protagonist Ruhan’s life as the story keeps unfolding.

7. The pacing of the story is well-crafted, keeping readers engaged from start to finish. Can you share your approach to maintaining tension and momentum throughout the narrative?

Keeping the momentum going is a big challenge at times when we see that the character is in his life and playing around, but the whole objective of the story also needs to be kept alive, therefore I have tried to mix a lot of science and family drama clubbed together so that the flow is just like the a slurpy noodle in the mouth, full of juices till the end keeping the excitement going.

8. In the age of rapidly changing media and reader preferences, how do you see the role of traditional storytelling evolving, and how do you adapt your writing to connect with contemporary audiences?

Technology is growing onto our lives and so does the audiences mindset, here I have been a little lucky as my story goes through a sci-fi route creating fantasy from the protagonist’s inquisitiveness. I have myself evolved my storytelling from traditional ways of narrative to single person himself that makes this boy’s journey a timeless one, and as the reader progresses through the lattice of words, he finds him there and doing that with Ruhan himself J
