Global India Couture Week 2025 Opens in Mumbai with Designers, Industry Icons, and Promising Talent

Global India Couture Week (GICW) returned in style with its much-anticipated 2025 edition, marking a milestone shift from Delhi to Mumbai after five successful and highly influential seasons. The relocation signals the event’s expanding scale and ambition, aligning with Mumbai’s dynamic position as India’s fashion and entertainment capital. The 2025 showcase is being held in partnership with international fashion design council (IFDC) at the iconic Nesco Centre in Goregaon East from September 18 to September 21, bringing together renowned designers, rising talent, industry experts, and fashion enthusiasts from across the country and abroad.

Recognized as India’s first couture platform that provides runways for international and domestic designers together, GICW continues to foster creative exchange, innovation, and global access for Indian fashion. The event remains under the leadership of Managing Director Satyajit Mohanty and Operational Director Dr. Sidharth Behera, who have consistently championed the integration of creativity, commerce, and culture.

The runway opened with designer Rohit K Verma and his theatrical collection, Mystical Garden. The collection blended fantasy-inspired couture and evocative storytelling. Actor and host Maniesh Paul and actress Diana Penty graced the runway as showstoppers, creating a memorable start to the edition.

Gayatri’s showcase followed, featuring Lekha Ranapati as the showstopper, while designers Sangeeta of Ann Corner and Amit Shah of Batter Hardware Studio unveiled sharply curated couture reflecting strong aesthetic identities. Nitin Singh brought actor Amit Dholawat to the ramp, and designer Naveen Kumar captivated the audience with a refined yet striking showcase. Adding international luxury to the palette, Lucilia Couture presented polished silhouettes and craftsmanship. Another audience favourite, Manali Jagtap presented by Dr Tvacha, closed her segment with actress Daisy Shah leading the runway.

Among the notable models walking this season was Rachika Suresh, who walked for designer Naveen Kumar. A Miss Diva 2025 Top 20 finalist, Rachika impressed the audience with her polished walk and effortless grace. Her career footprint spans 16 Indian states and three international runways, showcasing a growing presence in the industry. Her rising trajectory includes notable recognition such as the Super Model Award 2024 presented by the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and the Best Model of the Year 2024 Award in Dubai. Her presence at GICW 2025 marks another significant milestone in her expanding portfolio of high-profile fashion appearances.

The energy carried further with Saisha Shinde’s silhouettes, brought to life by model Deepti Gujral. The evening concluded with a glamorous finale directed by Ken Ferns, closing Day One with impeccable detailing, celebrity presence, and high-octane couture moments.

Reflecting on the vision for the platform, Managing Director Satyajit Mohanty shared, “Global India Couture Week is not just about fashion; it is about building an ecosystem where luxury, identity, and innovation come together.”

Operational Director Dr. Sidharth Behera added, “The aim is to bridge artistry with access. Each edition is curated to ensure designers find both a stage and their audience.” The Event was covered by Hindustan Times city lifestyle on 21st september 2025 print edition.

With a strengthened designer lineup, elevated production value, and increasing international influence, Global India Couture Week 2025 continues its tradition of setting the benchmark for couture excellence in India. As the event moves forward through its showcase dates, the fashion community anticipates more creative breakthroughs and standout runway moments.
