Chennai Metro Rail Corporation Limited launched a new feature
Chennai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (CMRL) has launched a new service to enhance the ticketing process for Chennai Metro commuters. They have launched a WhatsApp chatbot-based QR ticketing service in association with Carrix, a subsidiary of Tanla Solution.
Now you don’t have to stand in long queues and wait for metro tickets. You will be able to book metro tickets just from your WhatsApp. Let us tell you how you will be able to book it from your phone.
Metro tickets can be booked by following these steps
- You have to send a message to the CMRL WhatsApp number (+91 8300086000), which will be displayed at all metro stations in the city.
- Here you will get the option to choose either English or Tamil as your preferred language. You can select one of these
- Here you will be asked to choose from two options: Book a ticket and Find the nearest metro station
- On clicking the Book Your Ticket option, you will be asked to select your origin and destination station
- You can book up to six tickets at a time
- Apart from this, you can pay using UPI, Internet Banking, or Credit / Debit Card.
- After the payment is successful, a QR ticket will be sent to you.
- These e-tickets will be validated at the Automated Fare Collection Gate.
