New Delhi: Prof Ashutosh Sharma, President of, the Indian National Science Academy said, “Right kind of policies is what engages our science and technology to deliver.” He was speaking at the ‘18th Memorial Lecture on Netaji’s vision and legacy’ earmarking Moirang Divas.
He added, “Development can’t be stopped because we can’t secure things. Security comes by technology and not by making rules on paper. There is no approval needed for surveying and mapping any Indian entity unless that area is declared of-bound by the competent authority.”
Professor Sharma further stressed on the need for the right understanding and control of data. “India has traditionally never respected raw materials. Today data is the raw material, and we should respect it. It is necessary to have a right understanding of data, sharing of data, and control of data,” he pointed out. He said that AI is going to impact everyone and will disrupt everything. “It is going to impact society, jobs, the military, the future education system, and everything. The number of AI applications is infinite, and the future is going to be governed by AI,” he pointed out. He also added that India should pace up its progress in AI and should use its data and its brains to create its own products instead of exporting them. This, he said, would pave the way toward Atmanirbharata.
Citing that Netaji has gotten his rightful place at the heart of the city of Delhi, Mr. Hindole Sengupta, Vice President, Invest India said, “Netaji was a renaissance man who believed that India deserves better in every way and his path was to create a more disciplined way.”
Mr. Shaurya Doval, Director, of India Foundation and Managing Director of Torch Investments highlighted the need to look inwards, get back to our ancient concepts, and plan the Indian economy on the basis of the Indian economic concept of arthshashtra. He said that India is on track and will emerge as a $ 5 trillion economy, adding that the various economic reforms introduced by the Modi Government will surely take the country to a stronger position. On the Rafale fighter jet deal, Mr. Doval said that it was the technical need of India though soon India will become an exporter of technology.
Mr. Arun Chawla, Director General, FICCI said, “Netaji believed India possessed indomitable energy and spirit and poised for greatness. Netaji’s vision and thoughts for the nation are very relevant for today’s India which aspires to secure its rightful place in the comity of nations. He advocated for the promotion of indigenous industries, infrastructure development, and equitable distribution of resources to achieve a self-reliant and prosperous India.”
