Hartek Solar installs rooftop solar project at Yadavindra Public School, Mohali

Hartek Solar Private Limited, One of India’s Top 10 rooftop solar companies has completed the setting up of a 50 KW solar power plant at Yadavindra Public School (YPS), Mohali, the most renowned educational institution in Chandigarh Tricity. The project was an add-on to the already existing solar plant of 100KW, taking the total renewable energy capacity of the institution to 150 KW.

The entire plant has been built with mono-perc technology and is said to be one of the largest installations of solar in the Northern Region schools. The project will collectively generate over 2 lakh units of clean electricity saving electricity costs of over 20 lakh INR every year. Besides, the institution will contribute to environmental protection by offsetting 3,375 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide emissions per annum which is equivalent to saving 3,835 trees.

Speaking on behalf of YPS School, its Director, Maj. Gen. Waraich said, “As schools are implementing the latest technologies to impart education and increase awareness about contemporary issues such as environmental pollution and sustainable future, we have gone a step further and implemented what we teach to our students. The installation of solar panels in our school will no doubt save our electricity bills but more than that it will save our environment as well as convey to our students and their parents that we practice what we teach. It is also heartening to say that Simarpreet Singh, CEO of Hartek Solar is an alumnus of our school. We wish him success in his endeavors.”

Says Simarpreet Singh, Director, and CEO of Hartek Solar, “It is great to see schools taking a lead in the adoption of renewable energy. In doing so the students can also learn about practical aspects of solar at the campus. It will create more awareness about sustainable energy and climate change. At Hartek Solar, we are committed to building renewable infrastructure across the country helping India achieve its ambitious target of net zero emissions by 2070.”

The project is covered under the Net Metering Scheme of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL). Under this scheme, the surplus energy is fed into the grid, and the institution is suitably compensated by deducting equivalent units from their electricity bill.

Hartek Solar Private Limited is a part of Hartek Group, which is one of India’s top-ranked EPC companies and a leading name in the Power and renewable infrastructure sector. Hartek Group operates through 5 different strategic business units – Power Systems & T&D, Power Distribution Products (manufacturing), Rooftop Solar Solutions, Fuel services, and Value Added Services (VAS).
