Anirban Chottopadhyay is a well-known Bengali poet who was raised in Jharkhand and west Bengal after being born in Bihar. He currently resides in Odisha and works in a corporate. Anirban expresses his happiness and appreciation just to the writer and editor of Dainik Bharat in his response to receiving the award. It is, in fact, a very joyous event for a Bengali poet to be acknowledged for his remarkable and in-depth understanding of political thinking and ideas.
His first book, “Prem Barud Shobdo,” is a collection of poetry with a strong social focus. It is a compilation of three genres bound together. The Barud literary subgenre, where political expressions are written, has recently gained the favor of critics. He is also up for the best poet award from Ukiyoto Publishing for this excellent genre, and he will shortly be receiving it in Kolkata.
Anirban began his education in the English language, but due to his father’s transferable job, he traveled to several cities within these states, giving him the opportunity to pursue his education in a variety of institutions across many boards and in a wide range of educational modalities. When his family moved to west Bengal, he began learning Bengali in class 6. At first, learning this new language was quite tough for him, but through time, he learned to love and embrace one of the sweetest languages, Bengali. You might say that he has loved art since he was a young child because his grandpa, Dhananjay Chatterjee, is well-known as JATRAR SOMRAT (KING OF JATRA) in Jharkhand.
Anirban is an avid writer who made his literary debut with two novels that were stories. However, he later realized that poetry is more his style. He began contributing to ‘Little magazine’. After receiving support from his friends and wife, he thought of expanding the scope of his writing and he credits his editor friend Piyali Tripathi who is a well- known editor and publisher of a Bengali literary magazine and his wife Mousumi behind the compilation of the book ‘Prem Barud Shobdo’. And later the poetry book was published by Mr. Utpol Ballabh of Akhar Sanglap Publisher.
Anirban recalls his college years, when he was first exposed to student politics and where he acquired the fundamentals of politics, when talking about his political life. He was chosen by one of West Bengal’s most powerful political parties to serve as the college’s general secretary, after building a good position but later resigned due to an ideological disagreement with the party’s leaders. He consistently seeks to live out a unique political perspective. He constantly speaks out against the powerful and seeks to support the weak and vulnerable.
Anirban has always had a passion for movies and has fantasies of being a director. Although he wanted to be an actor, his luck was not on his side, and he ended up getting a lucrative job off camera and behind the camera. He began his career as an observer, progressed to assistant director, produced a few short films and documentaries, and wrote a few screenplays. He was unable to advance very far in the cinema industry for a considerable amount of time, but he had established himself well as a cine critic in numerous newspapers and blogs.
He says “You may be sure that even after I retire from my corporate job, I will pursue my passion of directing a feature film. Poems and movies don’t just serve as entertainment for me. These are among the most difficult weapons I know of something for the awakening society and bring about a revolution.”
