The film is based on a triathlon and Kher had been giving it his all as the scenes were physically very demanding. But, despite precautions, he suffered a serious injury to his shoulder when he fell off his bicycle during the race. Kher got a hairline fracture on his right shoulder and also two ligament tears.
Though the director and production house offered to delay the shoot to allow Kher to adequately recover, the actor did not want to seek any concessions. “The adage in this business is that the show must go on…and I do not want to deviate from this maxim which has been upheld across the world,” said Kher when asked for a response.
Kher, who is an author and sought after motivational speaker, added that this is the philosophy he has adhered to for decades and it is also the guiding light which he teaches to students in his acting school Actor Prepares.
Film buffs recalled that this not the first time that Kher has suffered injuries on the sets. In Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, he woke up one morning to discover that he had facial paralysis. And though the doctors advised him bed rest, he went directly to the sets and continued with the shooting schedule of director Sooraj Barjatya. It is this level of professionalism that has endeared Kher to producers; and is also the key to his being cast in over 540 films.
