Ambala BJP MP Rattan Lal Kataria passes away at 72

BJP MP from Ambala, Haryana, Ratan Lal Kataria has passed away. Kataria breathed his last at PGI last night. He was admitted in PGI for the last several days due to pneumonia. His last rites will leave from Sector-4, MDC at 11:30 am. The last rites will be performed at the cremation ground Manimajra at 12 noon.

Last month itself, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal, Home and Health Minister Anil Vij and other veteran leaders met and wished him a speedy recovery.

 

Gyanchand Gupta also expressed grief

Haryana Vidhansabha Speaker Gyanchand Gupta has also condoled the death of MP Kataria. Gupta has written that the demise of former Union Minister of State, Ambala Lok Sabha MP Ratan Lal Kataria is an irreparable loss for all of us workers and the BJP organization. May God give place to the pious soul in his holy feet.

40th anniversary was celebrated in PGI on 4th May

MP Ratanlal Kataria and his wife Banto Kataria celebrated their 40th anniversary on 4th May. He celebrated his 40th anniversary in PGI itself. Kataria had written that on this auspicious occasion, I am seeking the blessings of all of you. While struggling in the ups and downs of life sharing happiness and sorrow with each other at every step, it was not known when. Hum Safar wishes you a very Happy 40th Wedding Anniversary.

Kataria’s political journey started in 1980
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had fielded Ratan Lal Kataria for the third time on the Ambala seat. Due to experience and old face, BJP fielded Kataria from Ambala Lok Sabha reserved seat. Though he had lost twice in a row to Rajya Sabha MP Kumari Selja from the same seat, he made a record of victory in the 2014 elections. He has been an MP from the same seat in 1999 as well.

In 2014, he defeated Congress candidate Rajkumar Valmiki. In 2019, he had also avenged the old defeat by defeating Kumari Selja. Due to his long political experience and impeccable image, Ratan Lal Kataria was given ticket by the party.

Became the Vice President of BJYM in 1980

Ratan Lal Kataria was made the State Vice President of BJYM in 1980. After this, he was made the state president of the BJP from June 2001 to September 2003, after the journey of the party’s state spokesperson, state minister, All India General Secretary of Scheduled Caste Morcha, national minister of BJP. In 1987-90, became the Parliamentary Secretary of the State Government and the Chairman of the Harijan Welfare Corporation. From June 1997 to June 1999, he was the Chairman of Haryana Warehousing. On 6 October 1999, Ratan Lal Kataria was elected Member of Parliament from Ambala. In the year 2014 elections, he made a record of victory by defeating Congress candidate Rajkumar Valmiki.
