Ahmed Khan Recalls Shooting ‘Tu Jaane Na’ in 5°C: “Katrina Never Complained Once”

Director and choreographer Ahmed Khan has opened up about the challenging yet memorable experience of shooting the beloved song Tu Jaane Na from Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani. The romantic track, starring Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor, was filmed in the breathtaking locale of Pamukkale, Turkey — a setting as stunning as it was punishing due to the biting cold.

Ahmed reminisced about the shoot, describing the near-freezing conditions the crew endured. “It was beautiful, but freezing. The temperature was around 5°C, and Katrina had to wear light, summery costumes — especially that iconic gothic black outfit. We even skipped makeup for a raw, natural look. But Katrina never once complained. She was completely focused and delivered every shot with dedication.”

Despite limited daylight hours and harsh winds, Katrina Kaif’s professionalism stood out. “The weather was brutal, but Katrina understood the vision. She remained composed and added an incredible amount of elegance and emotion to the visuals,” Ahmed said.

He reflected on how the difficult conditions ultimately elevated the outcome. “It’s always the toughest shoots that yield the most special results. We filmed in an ancient colosseum that doubled as a gladiator arena — eerie yet magical. The romance came alive in that contrast.”

Composed by Pritam and soulfully sung by Atif Aslam, Tu Jaane Na became an instant chartbuster and remains a fan favorite to this day. The hauntingly beautiful setting, coupled with heartfelt performances, gave the song its timeless appeal.

Looking ahead, Ahmed Khan is gearing up for the final leg of shooting his upcoming family entertainer Welcome to the Jungle. The film’s concluding schedule will span locations in the UAE and scenic spots across India.
