About The Author: Siya Agrawal is 11 years old and lives in Hong Kong with her parents and younger brother. She is an avid reader and enjoys creative writing and art. Siya is very fond of animals and hopes to get her own cat once she is a little older.
Summary Of The Book: Meriden wants to be free, Moon and Leaf want to save their communities, Nadya wants to reunite with her missing sister and Flora wants to find out why she is different from everyone else. These seven stories by the author take us along these characters’ unique journeys as they triumph over challenges and embrace who they are.
1.Can you tell us a little about your book?
This book contains 7 short stories full of magic and mystery. Each story has a unique plot and characters. In this book you will meet Meriden the dragon, Gotugu the ghost, Cerise the strawberry, Leaf the cat, Moon the rabbit and many more characters in stories that would be hard to put down and leave you wanting for more.
2. Is there a specific event that inspired this story or was this an out of the blue idea?
These stories have not been inspired by any specific event. Rather I have tried to write a variety of stories with different plots and characters that promote the values of kindness, honesty, bravery and victory of good over evil.
3. What got you writing in the first place?
As a child, I always enjoyed spinning tales and playing make believe games with my friends. Once I learnt how to write I started putting my thoughts and ideas on paper and this is what got me into writing.
4. Which part of your story connects the most with you? Why?
The story of the Unique Dragon connects with me the most since Meriden, the dragon, took a while to find her true self and I feel that I am still exploring and finding my true self too.
5. What makes your book the one to read?
My book is collection of simple short stories, that can be read and appreciated by all children, and reinforce in them the values of kindness, honesty, bravery through interesting plots and characters.
6. Who’s your all-time favourite author? Which book of his/hers made you fall in love with them?
My favorite author is Tui. T. Sutherland. I like the Wings of Fire series by this author because of the riveting storyline and characters in these books.
7. What was your hardest scene to write?
I typically find battle scenes harder to write since many actions and feelings need to be captured and conveyed through words at the same time.
8. Do you have another plot brewing?
Yes, I do. Details cannot be revealed right now since I would like to keep it a surprise.
